Hey everyone, I'm hoping I could get some help with something I feel is quite simple, I'm just not getting it at all.

background info:
I'm using simatic manager, with a CPU 315-2 PN/DP
I'm using an IM155-5 connected to it
I have other modules, but those aren't important
I have a TM count (6ES7 550-1AA01-0AB0)

The hardware configuration is fine, no errors on the PLC or anything. All I want to do is test the TM module. I don't have a technology object, I just want to use it as a simple count up, count down module. However, I have no idea how to actually read the counter value, and I have been unable to find an appropriate example.

I believe I have it wired, I have the power box at the bottom, so I have 24V into 41, and GND to 43. I don't have an encoder, so I have nothing to pins 9 or 10, however 9 has power anyway from somewhere. I understand pin 0 is the A signal and should be the count up, however applying voltage to here repeatedly seems to change none of the addresses.

In the parameters for channel 0, I have these options set:
operating mode - counting/position input
reaction to CPU stop - Output sub voltage
react to violation count limits - continue
reset when violate - start value
react to gate start - start value
start value - 0
signal type - count up/count down
filter freq - 200kHz
DI0 behavior - gate start/stop
DQ0 behavior - b/t comparison value 0 and high limit
DQ1 behavior - b/t comparison value 1 and high limit
comparison value 0 - 0
comparison value 1 - 10

I download this to the PLC, and then I try driving pin 0 (signal A) repeadetly, but nothing changes. I have all the addresses monitored, and none of them change at all.

Please help, I simply want to test the module, and see where I see the counter value. If you need any more information, please ask.

Thank you for your help, but I have read those. I understand the wiring and addressing from the manual. That is why I believe I have the module wired correctly. I now also have voltage being applied to DI0, as I have that set to level actuated gate start/stop. I understand the addressing in a way. from the addressing for the feedback interface, I get where I should see some response, but there is none. Monitoring the module, I can watch all of it's addresses, and no outputs change. the only things that change, are me touching or releasing the A signal on pin 1.

I do not currently want to yet set up a function block or anything like that for it. I simply want to know where I would see the effects of using it as a simple counter manually.
