Wiring 2-wire transmitter to redundant analog module configuration

Hendri Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hello, We would like tomeasure 4-20mA signal from 2-wire transmitter using SM331 7KF02 analog module in redundant configuration. We use CPU 414-4H in redundant configuration also. We connected the modules in seriesbut the current never reach the redundant one. Is it possible to measure current in redundant configuration? If so, please give advise how to correctthis problem (wiring connection?). We have tried different method. We measured voltage instead of current for this redundant configuration (the modules in paralel). And it works. To do thatwe used a plain resistor (250ohm) to convert the current to voltage. Do you recommend to use this plain resistor to solve the problem? Is there any method/recommended additional equipmentto measure the voltage instead of current if measuring the current is not possible in redundant configuration? Thanks in advance...

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (318)	Hi Hendri, Have you look in the handbook Automation System S7-400H Fault-tolerant Systems on page F-26 where for a AI 431 a measuring loop for a 4...20mA signal is given. Translate it to the AI 331-7KF02 and then it must work.... [;)]
