How to calculate length of roller travel using HSC encoder.

Lee.best Posts: 24 Rating: (0)	Hii, I have S7-200 CPU and using HSC for encoder in inbuilt IO. I am using HSC for the firstt time. I have go through help in microwin.And wiring done as per catloge. Encoder is mounted on the roller. There are many rollers connected with one shaft. I want to calculate distance of material traveling on rollers. How can i do this??? any help or explaination Thanks in advance..

Hello, If you made the required code for HSC, then you could count the comming pulses. You should know displacement per pulse (mm / pulse) If you multipled this constant value by number of pulses, then you will get the length. Hope this helps.

Hello Lee.best Distance Travelled per rotation of the Roller = pi xDia of roller. Encoder is mounted on the roller so : Distance travelled per pulse = ( pi xDia of roller.) / Encoder Pulses per revolution You can use the HSC instruction to count pulses. Total DIstance travelled = No of Pulsed * Distance per pulse Have a look at the following application example : Micro Automation: Controlled Positioning with Standard Drives (MAS 22) Hope this helps Cheers Navnag

Now I am facing problem that After some maximum count my encoder counts starts from zero ..At that time My lenth calculation becomes wrong!!!! It gives False Alarm of length missmatch in my scada.... SolutionFinder Posts: 559 Rating: (87)	In this case you have to add conunt values of counter in some spare double word data. Means once your counter becomes 0 say from 32000 count then you have add current count value to maximum count value after reaching 0. Means your total count = Current count value + (max count value *no of cycles for max count achived) By this way you can get your total count till upto your final position.
