Hello Ara; The S7-300 MMC is a Flash memory card, as shown in the attachment below, so it stores the loaded program without battery support. When you remove and re-insert the MMC in the S7-300 CPU (when it is powered down) the program will be loaded to the CPU upon power up. The part number you show for the S7-400 memory card (MC) is a RAM card. It requires battery support (from the batteries inserted in the power supply module) to maintain the program. As soon as it is cut off from the battery support it loses everything that it contains, so when you start the CPU with an emptied RAM MC you have no program to run. You could also use a Flash EPROM MC, which does not require battery support, but demands the CPU be in Stop mode to download to it (using a specialized function "Load user program onto memory card"). In the following articles you will find descriptions of the memory concepts of the S7-300 and S7-400 families of CPUs. How can you obtain an overview of the memory concept of SIMATIC S7-300 CPUs and C7 devices? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/7302326 How can I get an overview of the S7-400 memory concept? https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/7302549 Hope thius helps, Daniel Chartier |
