I would like to upgrade our old production line with one new machine. We need to read/write data to an early version of MOBY I ASM450. We have tags MDS 403.

We are using profibus CP card with CPU 1512sp. Hardware connection is OK - see attachment, but we cannot use FC44 for data read/write in tia sw.
TIA says that "FC is not supported by the CPU or library version you are using".

Is there any alternative FC for new 1500 CPUs?

Is it possible to read old MDS 403 tags with newer head RF180C ? We can't replace the tags.

Which MOBY I reader are you using?

Basically RF180C can connect MOBY I readers, but RF180C has been cancled in 2022 and is only available as a spare part.

Imho you should consider changing reader and tags in the future.

Our plan is to insert a new machine in the existing old production line.

I have both ASM450 and RF180C on the table, connected to the PLC 1512, but it refuse to work with MDS403 tag.

I can't find any alternative reader for this old MDS403 tags. Maybe I should connect different head?

Anyway on RF180C, with head RF340R I can select MOBY mode: MOBY I file handler or MOBY I/E normal addressing, but without success. 
Only new tag RF340T is working OK.

By the specifications, the RF160C is direct replacement for ASM450 (only gsd in hw must be replaced), but it uses same FC44, which is not supported by the 1500 cpu ??!
I was searching for alternative FC, but nothing available for 1500 cpu.

I would only like to know, if we have any option available to read old MDS tags with new equipment ?

Just to avoid misunderstandings: ASM450 and RF180C can't access RFID tags. A reader needs to be connected. For MOBY I (MDS403 is a MOBY I tag) a SLG 4x is needed. Those are the only devices that can access MOBY I tags.

Thank you for your proposal. We have RF180C and reader SLG42. We only need new cable to connect them together. Already ordered.

We can't get it work. Reading head MOBY I SLG 42 is now connected to Simatic RF180C by the special cable 6GT2091-4FH20.

It seems we can access moby only by using Technology objects in TIA portal. 

RF180C HW configuration:
User Mode: RFID Standard profile
MOBY mode: MOBY I file handler

Technology objects:
Reader-parameters assignment: General reader

With upper settings we can read “Tag presence only” from Read (SIMATIC Ident - optional packages), but read or write commands are executed with error.

Anybody had this issues ?

What error are you getting?

Are you sure, you want to use file handler?

Which parameters are you using for the commands?

After reset done we have STATUS: 16#E6FE_0100

We tried with Reset_Univ instead of Reset_RF300, but we got same error. Maybe wrong library?
 

No reset data was provided for Reset_Univ (Param).
Since it a MOBY Reader, Reset_RF300 can't be used

Reset_Univ can't be used either, because it can only send a 16 byte long reset command. Sending a short reset command can be done with the ident profile block.

Since MOBY I is dicontinued there's no detailed information on MOBY I in that manual.
See. page 79 for the basic strucute. Details need to be taken from the MOBY I manual

Scanning time: two MSB (bits) represent the time factor: 00: 0.01s; 01: 0.1s; 10: 1s; 11: 10s. Bits 0-5 are used for the time value

Param: 0: Presense check off; 1: Presence on; MDS control off; 2: 1: Presence on; MDS control on;
