Is the resistors in this picture for wire break diagnostic?

Hello Tekabi,

the resistor in the picture cannt be for wire break. They seem to be input resistors.

To determine a wire break you need resistors parallel to each contact. So even when contacts are open enough quiescent current would be flowing. Normally wire break resistors are parallel to contacts and in range of 25 kΩ to 45 kΩ with 0.25 W.

The module is DI 16x24VDC HF. it has wire break functionality.

In it,s manual i just could find some information about paralleling of resistors with encoder contacts. but not for simple switches.

Can i parallel the resisrors with simple switches too?

Hello Tekabi,

encoder contacts are basically nothing else than simple switches. Therefore same as for encoders applies to simple switches and you can connect resistors as described in manual Figure 3-2.
