Markings on the modules front wiring door (the bezel) are quite apparent, and the module numbering scheme is the same for all Siemens I/O modules, be it for S7-300, ..., S7-1500. A S7-300 DO module would be a SM 322 (signal module 322, 6ES7322-1BH01-0AA0, f. ex)), for a S7-1500 it would be a SM 522 .(6ES7522-1BH00-0AB0 f. ex)

You can read from the front bezel markings the numbered type of module (SM 322, for example), and the type (DO, 16 x 24 V). The complete part number is available on the bottom of the module front bezel.

Complete designation of the module is also available from the side markings on the module.

See the example in the screenshot below, for an S7-300 DO module (SM 322).
