New functions:

• API supports the data types "String" and "WString"
  • For the simulation of e.g. material flow, material tracking or standard 
    interface data, you may need to exchange the data in STRING format 
    with the PLCSIM API. This enables complete test scenarios without 
    code changes with the upper data layer such as MES/ERP systems 
    and e.g. plant simulation.
  • String and WString can be used in the User Defined Datatype (UDT) 
    as data blocks or in arrays.
  • The string tag in the TIA Portal that uses UTF8 encoding is 
    256 bytes long and contains 254 characters. Two bytes are reserved, 
    one for the maximum length and one for the current 
    length of the string.
  • A WSTRING has a similar structure to a string, but can be 
    16382 characters long. The first 2 bytes are reserved for the maximum length, and 2 bytes after that are used for the current 
    length of the string. WSTRING is used for UTF16 encoding.
  • Array of STRING/WSTRING are handled in the same way as 
    arrays of other primitive types

  • With the new "Multiple Adapter Mode", S7-PLCSIM Advanced can now also be operated in IT infrastructures 
    that previously did not support the "Network Promiscuous Mode", 
    e.g. with cloud operators such as Azure Cloud or AWS.
  • Each interface of a simulated PLC can be configured separately.
  • This enables the following use cases:
    • External network visibility for each interface
    • Communication across 2 or more virtual machines 
      and their running PLC instances with one of their interfaces
    • Addressing of external PLC interfaces from different networks.
    • Network disconnection is possible while the 
      mapping is not in progress.
• R1 and/or S2 configurations of the S7-1500 R/H CPUs are now downloadable.
• Simulation with active NTP time synchronizations is now supported.
• It is possible to test the backup and restore functions via the S7-1500 web server
• Data logs (SFB140-148) and recipes (SFB1003/1004) can be written and read.
• to be notified by the plcsim api when a "software change" occurs 
  in the "stop" or "run" operating state some new api methods 
  have been implemented
• Register multiple user functions in the C++ API with the 
  callback methods of the same event similar to the .NET API.
• The default settings for the "DefaultStoragePath" of the newly 
  created instances can be retrieved/set directly from the API
