Got the following message when I tried to open STEP7 V5.6:

"The registry database is not set up correctly for the SIMATIC Manager. Install STEP 7 again."

I tried to repair the installation with DVD, didn't work.

I tried to uninstall/reinstall, didn't work.

Opened a support request with Siemens USA, you just need to start the software as an administrator.

You can go in the properties of the shortcut in the desktop, "Compatibility" tab and check "Run this program as an administrator."

but this is not the solution for the problem!

if you check the readme on the dvd you will see that this startoption should never be used with simatic manager.

i think you have problem with registry virtualization.

for this you need to delete the registrykeys:

check if the Registry keys exists

HKEY_USERS\>UserSID_Classes\VirtualStore
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore

if yes then delete the keys and the SW should be run without the "Run as Administrator"

go to Registry Editor and go to this 

HKEY_USERS\>UserSID_Classes\VirtualStore

or

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore

delete the keys 

your software will run correctly
