frequency to voltage conversion help

Resnik Posts: 2 Rating: (1)	Hi, I'm using S7-200 PLC with analog module, thing I have to realize somehow is converting frequency into voltage. I did find some info about high speed counters, but to be honest, I kinda fail to see, how to use them, what I need to do is, capturing and counting frequency from 1k , to 10k on first input, and linear convertion to voltage, from 1V to 10V. anyone who could help me with a working example, and some explanation? regards. But we can try to discuss about it. You can use high speed counter and read it with cyclic interrupt every second. In this way you'll get exact frequency every second and the you can just convert it to voltage. The main question is still remain: how will you get frequency to PLC ? If you will get it from encoder than its ok to use HSC. Also HSC must meet 10 kHz requirement in your application.

I found this on the internet that looks interesting. http://www.crmagnetics.com/newprod/frequency_transducers.htm well, its realized using just s7-200 and analog module, I0.0 is used to "capture" frequency from source, while the first analog output should be used for voltage output.

rosa Posts: 191 Rating: (58)	Hi!! darius answer looks fine.. just define a time basis, and count the number of pulses in that period... then with math functions convert this # ofpulses to it´s equivalent in voltage... the problem is that if you shorten the period you will loose resolution... and if you want a better resolution you will need along period... hope this helps!!
