Dear all, 

trying to setup 6ES7 551-1AB00-0AB0 card with S7 1500 cpu to read a position of ssi linear LVDT 25bit gray resolution 0.005mm

there are three possible operating modes:

1) technology object

2) position input for motion control

3) manual mode

what i need to get is DINT of actual raw value read by card and some of the statuses that SSI is ready. 

if i select technology object i cannot select anywhere that encoder is linear and that it has resolution of xxx mm. same thing in manual mode cannot set these parameters anywhere. 

they are available only in motion control mode, but there is no input address in that case that i can read directly in PLC program, it needs to go via some technological motion control block. 

my question is what is the best setup to be used for reading position and status, if motion control is recommended which technological block should be used just to read position and status. 

I do not have all the hardware yet available, so could not try it.
