840C EXT function (execution from external), help!

Pre: EXT option is active in our 840C machine. thanks jove

_vm Member Joined: 5/12/2006 Last visit: 5/12/2006 Posts: 1 Rating: (1)	Hope the issue is resolved.. else you could try the following : Load the part program into the MMC CPU hard disk and use the EXT function . (EXT normally is used for Execute from Hard Disk of MMC CPU), and make changes in the job list with the command SELECT partprogramname DISK.

Vikingman1 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	I have a serious question for all the monitors on this web site. People need help in industry to keep these machines running. It looks like members of this forum are helping each other with little or no help from Siemens other than establish a web site. Does not Siemens have one expert to spare to answer questions concerning the 840C. I see this as not only a problem with Siemens but all manufacturers. They are willing and very happy to sell you a new one, but refuse to stay in for the long haul. There is a lot more to support than bulletins and manuals on line, even though that is a good start. If anyone could provide me with the name and address of the CEO of Siemens I would like to ask he or she some direct questions on how to really support their customers. I know of more than one CNC machine that has been setting out of production, not making money because of a dead board made by Siemens, again as stated before this is not only a Siemen's problem but as I see it almost all manufacturers.

I was very frustrated with Hyundai Hit 8S turning center with a Siemens 840C CNC controller . I really liked the machine but my time in teaching came to a close shortly after we acquired it and I failed to master it. Time forward 10 years and I now have the same machine in my own shop (different year of manufacture) and am in the process of getting it wired with 3 phase electricity and look forward to mastering it, with out the pressure of earning a dollar or teaching students. As a side note I wonder how many of the Hyundai Hit 8S turning centers are still be used in industry as of 2024. I know it is essentially a Mazak QT8 with a different controller also built by Hyundai. Too bad a modern Siemens controller can't be put on these older excellent machines at a reasonable price.
