I have problem with a s7-1214c DC/DC/DC V3.0 and after hours of research I found out that my PLC will not work properly without the firmware update. That's according to this post:

So I tried to download the relevant file and I keep getting the following message:

"You cannot download this file, since your registration inquiry is still being processed. Please note: due to the manual review, the registration may take several days.
You will get a confirmation e-mail as soon as your download registration is finalized.
You can download the software packages with export restrictions only when you have received the positive confirmation."

Soooooo, am I suppose to wait patiently for "several days" until they so kindly and generously allow me to download the file to fix my PLC or am I getting this all wrong?

you do nothing wrong but:

Note: The software is subject to export restrictions, a download is only available to registered users.  

So first it must be checked if you can download the files from you location etc.

So please wai for the confirmation mail.

I purchased used PLCs 1214c DC/DC/DC with version 3.01 and they came with a 2Meg memory card each, used as "program card". I connected one at a time and it was recognized in a new project though the maintenance and error lights were lit red. After trying to delete programs and such I realized I was best to reset it to factory settings and remove the memory card. After doing just that it went into what I believed then was test mode (but now I'm doubtful) and whenever I tried to add it in TIA, v11 SP2 update 5, I got an incompatible device error or something to that effect. That led me to the support pages and the need to update the firmware.

After much messing around I got them working well. It was a circular effort that had to do with the card being a program card and the setting of the hardware "startup" setting that was set to restart in "mode prior to power off". Going by memory now, I had to insert the program card and recycled the power to the PLC which got it back to the way it was in the beginning then added it to a project and changed the start up setting to "warm restart-run"  then turned off the PLC and replaced the "program card" with one setup as "transfer card" then powered up the PLC to get it forget that it needed a program card (that's my thinking anyway) then remove the card and recycled the power again and bingo it worked like charm.

At some point when I have time I will recreate the problem and document it to learn from it. It may come in handy in the future.
