Config of ET200s IM 151-1 32DI with SI fails to see option card

Chaddy Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have an application where I need to bring into the PLC a hand held barcodereaders data, I thought I could use the ET200s compact 6ES7 151-1CA00-1BL0 (with 32 inputs for PB's etc) and add the option card SI '6ES7 138-4DF01-0AB0'. I have the following kit, S7 300 317 2-DP processor connected to 2x MP270 Hmi's and 1 (for now) link 20E module all up and running ON PROFIBUS ok on the bench. I can add the ET200s unit and it runs ok, BUT when I attach the SI along with the 15mm base connector, and end plate.Then reconfigure the hardware config in Step7 and download I get a lot of red cherries... ie SF on the IM solid BF flashing 1sec ON Green Diag says Module in slot 2 faulty?? On the SI card i have a solid SF-RED I have searched on this site and there is mention of Firmware updates for the serial card but they are quite old posts. I only bought this card last week so should "" be up to date? Any help would be great.. Mark C

Chaddy Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	HI, The base unit behind the ET200s is 6ES7 193-4DL10-0AA0 The unit behind the 1SI is 6ES7 193-4CA40-0AA0 (TM-E15S26-A1 I have had the unit without the 1SI card up and running ok on profibus. Mark

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, the thing is, the 1SI requires 24 V Power form a Supply. The ET 200S COMPACT does not provide this Power, so you need a Power Module (PM) between the ET 200S COMPACT and the 1SI Card. So, which Power Module do you use there? [;)] Best regards J_Bell

When wiring up the ET200s module I connected the 24v supply to the terminals marked 1L+, 1M This powered the unit up and connected to Profibus network ok, worked great on our test bench. No errors. After reading your last post, I actually wired up the Input supply terminals, 1,2 41,42 +24v and 3,4 43,44 M this to enable the inputs. Having done this the 1SI card comes to life. No errors!! Therefore which PM would you recommend?? Thanks Mark

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello Mark, well to tell you the truth it was a guess, the thing with the PM. I have a ET 200 S COMPACT 16 DI / 16 DO in front of me and there I know I had to connect all Power Inputs, as it is shown on the COMPACT Module itself. It might have been that the PM of the Head module is not connected through to the Bus interface and in this case you would have to usea PM. A PM as I thought about would be a 6ES7138-4CB10-0AB0, for example. Just to think about it.
