Thanks, I knew the S7-300 didn't support the hot swapping but wasn't sure why the object properties specifically called out the other rail. |

Hi, there are two possibilities for ET200M: use a IM153-1 and S7-300 rail without hot swap; use a IM153-2, a "deep rail" and bus modules with hot swap. See IK PI 2005 chapter 6 (www.siemens.com/simatic/printmaterial). |

[quote user="TIM"]We are planning on attaching an ET200M system to a 315-2dp processor. With the 153-1 Interface Module (P/N 6es7-153-1aa03-0xb0) the object properties says that it needs rail 6es7-195-1ga00-0xa0, not the normail DIN rail. Is this true.If so, what exactly does this other rail buy me? Can any ET200M use the standard rail?? (we would like to stick to the standard rail if at all possible). Hi Tim, Only when you want to swap the modules when they on the rail, then you need a active backplain.... [;)] If you want to swap some modules when the installation is in run then you need to do some things, please read the text i have written under this: When looking in the "S7-300 Instruction List CPU31xC CPU31x IM151-7 CPU BM147-1 CPU BM147-2 CPU" instruction handbook: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/13206730 on page 108 the information of OB83 is listed. But without OB83 is hot swapping also perfectly possible in a ET 200S station, the station stays in work when replacing the I/O-block when the "Module change during operation" and "Insert/Remove module" is put on (IM151 paremetrizing in HW-projecting). The only thing that must be cleared is that the addresses are called from the software and that they have to be blocked when detected with OB122. You might make a recognition over OB122 and OB82. In a ET 200M station it is also possible but you have to use then an active backplain. The function "Module change during operation" (or "Insert/Remove module") enables you to insert or remove modules during operation of the ET 200M rack and also for the ET 200S rack. "Module change during operation" - Configuration and system requirements http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1826766 gives more information about the hardware and software requirments for "Hot swapping" with a S7-300 system. Without a active backplain is swapping NEVER possible... |
