Ethernet communications between S7-400 and ABB PLC AC800

Biagio Posts: 31 Rating: (1)	Dear expert, In our project weneed toget informations fromABB system ( AC800 M/C CPU ) with S7 400. My question is :HOW canwe get the data from ABB PLC with S7 400 CPU ?. Is it possible to use the the same way to get data from two siemens PLC (Get function)?. Thank you in advance. Biagio.

AMIRRAZI Posts: 15 Rating: (1)	Hi All to give a response for your last question for the MMS protocol (Manufacturing Message Specification) used by this kind of PLC , I don't think that you can use a CP to read MMS traffic.!! if you need just to get data from the AC800M PLC in order to insert them in HMI pages you can use a software communication method i.e; by using the standard OPC this type of ABB PLC has OPC Server for AC 800M 5.0 wich OPC server that ensure to get both real time datas and alarm&events in other hand if you need to realize direct communication between AC800 and S7-400 you can use a Profibus DP protocol because by there is the CI851 module that can do it. You can read "There is no follow-up product for this CP module" in CP444 Module to be phased out. You should go with any of the above proposed solutions. Best regards. H-H

AMIRRAZI Posts: 15 Rating: (1)	Very simple !!! by using the ABB CI851 with AC800M dont forget to use the DP/DP coupler to your S7-400 PLC the coupler allow communication between two master on two separated Profibus DP Functionality Description: - Normally Profibus-DP does not support master to master exchanges. - The coupler is on both sides a profibus slave CI851+ DP/DP coupler+Enginnering Good Luck
