Configuring power supply module in TIA Portal Simatic Step 7 V11

Ras Sharif Posts: 69 Rating: (0)	Hi I have started the PLC with S7 1200. I use the TIA Portal Simatic Step 7 V11 for configuring the project. It is cpu 214, power supply 6EP1 332-1SH71, and some I/O modules. The problem is that there is not the power supply module in hardware catalog to add. Thanks a lot for help

I also have one of those power supplies, and they have no "intelligence" to them - you can't communicate with them. They just provide power to whatever you connect them to. To my knowledge, it is not possible (nor desired?) to add them in TIA Portal.

I wanted to know that is there any problem or No. The power supply (assuming you have a DC powered PLC) providing 24VDC needs to have sufficient capacity to supply the PLC power. If your PLC also powers input devices, your current draw is slightly higher. The specs for the PLC define the current requirements. I tend to go 25-100% higher than the max required by the PLC. Hope that helps. It sounds like you come from a different PLC manufacturer's world, like A-B or Modicon where the Power Supply selection really matters.

ssm Posts: 8 Rating: (0)	In the case of simens S7_1200 there is no need of using SIEMENS power supply unit for powering up the PLC module. Any power supply unit with 24 V DC with exact current rating can be used.
