Problem with MMC card

Bjekas Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Bjekas Hello, Im using a S7-1214C DC/DC/DC firmware 2.2 with Tia portal v11 sp2. Everything was working fine until today. I download an FC to the plc online and the software says the block was downloaded sucessfuly but its says the blocks are different and I cant monitor the block. Have to do a full upload from the plc! I can confirm that after the download the changes are made in the plc but in the sofware it keeps saying the online block and offline block are different! Tried to go offline and online, tried to load a different project, tried a diferent computer and it allways do this. Anyone got a clue what is happening? I just started doing this today!!!! Another question, I was using a 2MB mmc card. Now changed to a 24MB (was after the problem above mencioned, this is not the reason for the online monitor bug!) but when I go to Tools-Resources it still keeps saying I have a 2MB memory card. Plc was restarted and it stills keeping the info with 2MB card... That was it... changed my pc date and changed the blocks againd and download then... problem solved! Thanks a lot... Now if I could found out why the hell the plc dont recognize de 24mb in the memory card... that would be great! It still keeps saying I have a 2MB card when I changed it... I realy need the extra space... If anyone could help me I will apreciate it

The problem is that I need 16.000 retentive Bytes and it will need 16mb of retentive memory... cant understand how can 16.000 bytes = 16 MB... If someone could explain this to me I will apreciate it! But the problem remains... How can I retain 16.000 bytes on a S7-1200?

Hello Bjekas I'm afraid to say that 2048 Bytes is theupperlimit of retentive data in a 1200 and below is an excerpt from the S7-1200 manual (ref. chapter 4.1.6): "A total of 2048 bytes of data can be retentive. To see how much is available, from the PLC tag table or the assignment list, click on the "Retain" toolbar icon. Although this is where the retentive range is specified for M memory, the second row indicates the total remaining memory available for M and DB combined. Note that for this value to be accurate, you must compile all data blocks with retentive tags." Possibly not the answer you wanted to hear, but I hope it helps anyhow.

But I checked out this: https://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo&lang=en&objid=53034113&caller=view Something about unlinked db's and using the space of the card directly. I can create a unlinked db like the document says, but when I use the blocks mencioned the plc whent to error state... something about the db its not loaded... any clue about this? I've already sent a question to Siemens suport... lets see If I can do this, if not I'll have to make a database in a pc and link it via opc server... Was trying to avoid this... If you have any other ideia I would apreciate it if you share :)

0_Einstein Diamond Expert Joined: 7/7/2010 Last visit: 11/15/2024 Posts: 15402 Rating: (2444)	I think to use the external memory card for your external DB, you use the WRITE_DBL and READ_DBL. After reading the help file, I think it might do what you want unless your data is changing often. If that is the case, it would be better to perhaps save it in an HMI recipe and reload it when the PLC is restarted.
