The forum examples are a range of versions from V10.5SP2 to V11SP2. What TIA Portal version are you using? Are the projects unzippedin a way to ensure all folders and files are created to mimic how they were saved?

For V10 project, those that have the .xx10 in the project file extension, are you opening with V10.5SP2? For V11 project, those that have the .xx11 in the project file extension, are you opening with V11 SP2? Create a sample project and click save. Now browse the project folder structure in explorer. Compare that to the downloaded projects you are unable to load. Are the folders and files in relatively the same locations with similar names?

You can try uninstalling and re-installing the software, or you can try using the "support request" (upper right link in this forum) and get an expert technical support person to help.
