Error when trying IOT2000 S7 communications example

When trying to install the node for S7 communications I get the following return.

can you tell me how your network looks like? Which LAN port is connected to what? Do you have a router to communicate with the internet? Is the router configured as a gateway for the IOT2000?

Take a look at the "/etc/network/interfaces" file. Maybe you need to add an entry for the gateway or a nameserver

gateway 192.168.200.xxx
dns-nameservers 192.168.200.xxx

I have a IOT 2020 so it only has one LAN port which is connected to my router. The router is configured as a gateway for a lot of my devices, including the IOT2020. My /etc/network/interfaces has the following entries.

address 192.168.1.118
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.1.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8

The only way I can get a nameserver to be recognized is to put "nameserver 8.8.8.8" in /etc/resolv.conf. This is all working fine until the IOT2020 is rebooted, at which time the /etc/resolv.conf is overwritten with a copy that has no entries.

Did you try to use "dns-nameserver" instead of "dns-nameservers" (singular, not plural)?

(It's better but not mandatory to prepend the file with the sh shell indication; this forum doesn't allow me to write the line of code.)

make the file executable with:

chmod +x /etc/init.d/filename

update-rc.d filename defaults

 This allows you to handle dns at boot time using a more standard way.

It could be helpful if the package resolvconf will be included inside the Siemens example image or someone give us more details about how to handle dns better than overwriting /etc/resolv.conf like I did.
