Positioning with S7-200 or 300 via USS?

Rasmus7700 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello I was wondering if there exists any positioning blocks, that communicates with the g110 via USS? I can only find blocks that uses 2 digital out, or analog out. Thank you :)

Rasmus7700 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Yes i also read that post. So it's possible to use the USS bus on both cpu types. I've also found the librarys for setting up the communication port. I was wondering if there exist any libraries for positioning with the USS protocol. I've found some position libraries for the 200 plc, but they use digital outputs. Anyone can help me :D

marcsinclair Posts: 49 Rating: (5)	Hi, I've used scores of Micromasters with the S7-200, you'll need the USS library as this provides a simple interface from one of the CPU ports. The Low-cost G110 drives also use USS, but do consider the MM420, as it is only slightly more expensive, but is a much better quality, and easier to connect, and has all the hardware for EMC compliance. I've used USS drives with geared motors, feeding back through an encoder for positioning (using the encoder input functions on the CPU) This work well, and with a suitable mechanism can be _very_ accurate. I do not know if they work with USS too, but I think so. Look here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21063595 If you deside to use a S7-300, you can use Easy Motion Control (6ES7864-0AA00-0YX0) for positioning. I avaible you soulduse PROFIBUS, it's much faster then USS, the positioning will be better. Rasmus7700 Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	That seems good, problem is that i've already installed a S7-200 PLC. My drive's up and running. BUT i can't do any kind of positioning with this bus, it's way to slow, the reaction time is about 1,5-2 sec (not ms) That's a big problem... :(
