Hi timer86, The address space of each CPU or IM is limited. The number of modules that a CPU or IM can manage depends on how much space is required to manage all these modules. The maximum number of modules can be plugged in if the CPU or IM does not read the status information. How many bytes a module occupies in the address space also depends on the operating mode in which it is operated. A 16DI normally has 2 bytes of input data. But if you use QI or the counting function, this becomes more. The TIA portal has this knowledge, and the user can also find it in the manual for the respective IO modules. There is always a chapter "Parameter / address space" for the 1500 IO.
