Flowrate in the logger is not same as reading in meter

Tri92 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	Hallo Mr, I already connected 3 meter MAG5000 using digital input (terminal 56 & 57) with datalogger. The problem is the flowrate in the logger is not same as reading in meter? For example in meter 200 l/s in logger 160 l/s. Any suggestion? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from MAG5000 setting of digital output.

The error is a 20% error - the expected flow rate is 200 l/s, the indicated flow rate is 260 l/s: 160/200 = 0.8 or only 80% of the expected value; a 20% error. The Mag5000 pulse output can be configured for a frequency output rate, FMax in pulses/second. Qmax = Fmax. If the Mag5000 is configured for 5KHz frequency than a 100% flow rate value (Qmax) would output 5,000 pulses per second. If the SCADA system is configured to interpret 6.25KHz as 100%, then a full scale output 5,000 pulses would be only 80% of the SCADA's maximum flow rate value: 5000/6250 = 80% The scaling factor for frequency outputs is sometimes referred to as a K factor. There's a K factor setting somewhere in the SCADA and the K factor has to be increased by 20%.

DavinderSingh Posts: 93 Rating: (2)	Dear Tri92, You have to specify which datalogger you are using? How you are reviewing the reading? On the PC directly connecting to datalogger or in SCADA System or on Webserver? What commonly I noticed there could be scaling issue: Often in flow meter pulse is shown in m3 or l. You have to be careful with units. Similarly, datalogger comes with preconfigured or fixed unit like liters. Therefore first mistake is conversion of pulse unit. Secondly, most dataloggers uses internal function to calculate the avg. flow rate based on pulse input. Typically, you need to wait for couple of minutes (10-15mins) to see flow rate start showing avg flow almost same to flow meter. If scaling is wrong, flow rate will vary. Regards, Davinder Singh
