Kris C Posts: 55 Rating: (4)	In the object properties we can set each channel for 4-20mA, 0-10VDC, etc... If you change it to unused do you have to complete a full download on the HW config? There is a SF on the card for an unused channel, but we don't want the red light to be on because we are not using that channel.

I ended up just getting the message that all inputs and outputs would be frozen for 1 second, which in my process is fine. It would be prettyodd to have to stop the processor for a change like this. It is only a software change, physically everything is still there, and the amount of words stays the same.

H-H Platinum Member Joined: 7/2/2008 Last visit: 9/30/2024 Posts: 928 Rating: (309)	Hello Kris C, For sure you have S7-400 since this post is in PCS7 and most probably you have a hardware configuration with CIR (Configuration In Run) or you have S7-400H. That's why you were able to download your new module parameter without stopping the CPU but normally an S7-400 without pre configured CIR will have to be stopped before downloading a new configuration. However, when you need this channel again in the future you will freez your outputs for one second again while you could have left the channel activated but with a resistance across its terminalsto get rid of SF LED.
