Hello, Can we connect Absolute encoder with Hard wiring OR should it be connected via profibus only. Thanks |

Dear kiran dave, The absolute encoders and incremental encoders have a different connections. Incremental encoders, have supply voltage, A & B channel signal and Z signal in some cases for zero signal. Some encoders have also A- & B- signals if reverse direction have to be detected. But in absolute encoder, you have SSI data signal andSSI clock signals. In any case, FM351 is a posinioning module and it can be connected to absolute encoder/ incremental encoder. Please find the attached table that containing compas=rison between them Regards, Attachmentfm351_operating_instructions_en[1].pdf (932 Downloads) |

Hello kiran dave Connecting absolute Encoders hardwired is a thing of the past as far as I'm concerned (depending on the resolution you require a fair few wiring cores as well as digital inputs). A Profibus DP based connection is the way to go for absolute Encoders and also allowes you to (flexibly) preset the Enocder with a reference value if need be. Anyway, below is an "oldi but goldie" conciseEncoder handbook (courtesy of Dahaner) which will hopefully help in clarfying the general differences between incremental and absolute Encoders as well as the variouspossibilities on how to link them toa PLC: Danaher Encoder Handbook I hope this helps |
