Access PLC on different subnet in local network

Hi,I have a Profinet which is configured as

IP range:192.168.0.x

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

I also have a PC which is part of a 192.168.1.x  network that contains internet access. This PC has only one network adapter and has manual IP settings.

I cannot change PC IP address, and I cannot change Simatic station's hardware config. When I go to Edit Ethernet Node and browse for stations, I "see" all devices on Profinet, however I cannot establish connection to a specific PLC.

In such scenario, is it possible to establish access to PLC which is basically on different subnet? If I enter a second IP on the LAN adapter, will Simatic Manager be able to use this address for accessing PLC?

When I go to PG/PC Interface properties, there is a IE-PG access card, which, if I understand properly, speaks of the same scenario as I do, but I do not see how can I configure it?

Or there is some other solution?

Hello Goran;

Basically, the equipment you need (in any such situation) is a router. The router allows croos-subnet connections.

Yes, its possible but then you need the router in between PLC and PC to route the IP address.

PC: 192.168.1.x Router will route 192.168.1.x to 192.168.0.x. You need to define the gateway at PLC and PC side as IP address of router.

Hi dchartier & DJ_1, the PC is already connected to router, which provides access to internet, which I do not want to loose, so changing gateway is not an option. I could always add another NIC, but I will first try if having two IPs is going to work.

you can add a secon IP on the networkcard in the range 192.168.0.x this should be work.

if you can add a NIC, you should be able to add an IP. This is my normal setup. the 10.x.x.x addresses are the local servers in the building and all. The 192.168.x.x stuff is for PLC/HMI/Drives for projects that are in production/testing. This way I can just plug a machine into the network when it is in the back and set up the drives while at my desk.
