Altivar71 and CPU315-2DP using Profibus

swilly Posts: 52 Rating: (4)	Hi. I am trying to connect a frequency converter Telemecanique Altivar71 to a CPU 315-2DP using Profibus. The Profibus status led on Altivar shows "Conection Ok" but when I try to start the motor in local mode the CPU goes to stop. In Step7 diagnostic CPU islooking for OB86 (Backplane fault), I create it but is the same, CPU goes to stop. Any comment?

You created OB86 in your program blocks, downloaded it to the CPU and the CPU still goes into STOP mode? That is very surprising. Could you upload the contents of your Diagnostic buffer 9after a CPU STOP), save it as a text file and post it here, so we can see what it contains? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello swilly, well, the OB86 especially in the S7-300 indicates that a Slave dropped form the Network. Could it be that the Slave you use closes the PROFIBUS interface as soon as you switch him to manual mode? In this case I would understand the situation. The OB 86 would be a useful part of your Program to handle the failing of DP Slaves. Best regards J_Bell

swilly Posts: 52 Rating: (4)	Hi, I solved the problem of CPU STOP, if you read the Diagnose file with attention first the CPU try to get the OB82. When I load the OB82 into the CPUnever goes to stop again. But the problem withprofibus still there, the SF and BF leds in the CPU lights on every 20 segs aprox. Any idea how to detect the problem? It seems to be a problem in Altivar profibus card or GSD file. Thanks again.

Now, downloading required OBs in the CPU not only prevents STOP mode (actually, the OB interruptbypasses the call for STOP; that is why the SF LED comes back at regular interval, the OB is called every time the failure situation is encountered by the CPU) but enables more diagnostic information to be loaded in the Diagnostic Buffer. At this time, have another look at the Diagnostic buffer, it should have information on what causes the call for OB82/OB86. Remember: OB86 is a diagnostic OB for failure of a distributed IO system (failure of a slave in this case); OB82 is a Diagnostic Interrupt OB (it is called when an interrupt-capable module detects an error), so there should be some useful information to be found there.
