Assistance Needed with SINUMERIK 805 v4.6 PLC Stop Error and S5 Connection

While I usually focus on upgrading and building new machines, I've recently been tasked with maintaining some older equipment. I'm currently working with a SINUMERIK 805 version 4.6 (6FX 1866 0BX03-46) and encountering a PLC Stop error along with a Missing Data Block message. I'm trying to connect a Windows XP machine running STEP 5 software via an RS232 interface. Is there a concise guide available that can walk me through the hardware and software setup for this process? Additionally, do I need to initialize the data blocks before establishing the connection? I've used WINPCIN in the past to backup and recover data. This hardware is not within my typical area of expertise, but I believe I can manage with some guidance. mmeyer12 Member Joined: 6/28/2022 Last visit: 9/16/2024 Posts: 4 Rating: (1)	I managed to reload the PLC from EPROM (switch the sw1 on the 805 to position 2, and press resart) Afterward the PLC stop and Missing data block message were gone. Then after connecting S5 via port x122 with a 6FC9 344-4T cable I was able to compare the program from our archive. (Go to the data trasfer connection screen, select the "plc device" with 9600 baud, 7 data bit, 2 stop bit, rts/cts controlling, press read in start. then go online with S5) I verified the FB 240,241,242,243,250, and 251 and moved them to the PLC as those were the only ones missing/not identical. might have to load machine parameters but everything else is back to normal.
