Automation License Manager problem, Help! S.O.S

Tom Sun Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I installed Step7 Pro and WinCC Flexible Advancedinto my computer, Windows XP Pro.+SP2, a month ago, the Automation License Manager just worked fine, but it did not work at all after last week. When I tried to start "Automation License Manager, ver2.1", the error window was saying" The Automation License Key Service Has not Been Started, Please Start the Service". I uninstalled Step7 and WinCC Flexible, Reinstalled Step7 only, when I tried start "Automation License Manager, ver1.1", same error message displayed. This drove me into nut, could anybody help me out? How can I rescue my Licenses in my harddisk if I have to format my computer???? RDS Tom

Tom Sun Posts: 4 Rating: (0)	I checked the Event Viewer in Admin Tools, the error message is like, DataBase - OpenWithServiceComponents failed with 0x80004005. API = DataBase thread: InitDataBase failed (0x80004005), error code = 0, Any expert please help me out.

gnook Posts: 42 Rating: (1)	I have the same problem on a machine running Windows XP Pro SP2. The advice I got from the hotline was the usual full Siemens Standard uninstall (uninstall software format hard disk blow up PC and buy new....[:mad:]). I have not done this (I chose to start the service manually every time) I will also try Nemo's solution but this constant uninstalling and registry editing with Siemens software is a real weakness that the developers need to resolve. Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi gnook, well, did you install any other software on your engineering system, beside SIMATIC -software? Often other software-installations exchange/modify DLL-files which are necessary for running your simatic-sw => only a new installation can help. So the simatic-software has the chance to be the "last" software, installing aDLL on your machine.... regards, nemo

gnook Posts: 42 Rating: (1)	Hi Nemo, No I only installed Siemens software, things that you would expect will work together Step 7, ProTool, WinCC, Simotion Scout. For example I know if I install WinCC on a machine which already has Step 7 Pro, ProTool and Simotion Scout the ProTool will no longer make a connection to the Scout project, The only way to reesolve this is to rebuild the Field PG from the system restore disks. If people at Siemens know which applications are incompatible why don't they tell developers so when the software checks the system for space, compatibility you at least get a warning.

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi gnook, well, I´ve made the same experience that you shouldn´t e.g. install WinCC and ProTool at the same system - as it is certainly mentioned in the release notes, FAQs, manuals, ....[;)] I am quite sure, that the siemens people are working on this, so that WinCC (PC) and WinCC flexible (panels) are growing together on a common platform.
