avoid overshoot in controlled loop by FB41

SRV Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hi I want to Increase speed of a process reaction by changing parameters of PID controller but I encountered overshoot in my controlled variable.What do you recommend to do to increase the speed and to be in a tolerable overshoot value.

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (259)	The higher GAIN you set the higher overshoot you gain. The higher TI you set the slower system reaction is (including decreased overshoot). So generally you must adjust these 2 parameters. There is standard procedure - you set "open" command and record runaway curve. Based on the form of this curve you can choose initial parameters.

Dear member Check section 2.1.19 (PARA_CTL: Parameter Control) of this manual. Application The block is used in controller structures with parameter changeovers when optimum parameters are required for different operating ranges. You can find the optimum values for PID, if you need a quick response, you can set a relatively high gain for initial conditions and then before a severe overshoot return all parameters to normal. BR
