As in this case you dublicate the license and for this sake it is not legal. In my opionion, if you do not like to wase a lot of time whenever the server of operator station fails, then buy another PC (May be commercial PC), and install all required SIMATIC software without licenses. In case of any problem happened on the original PC, then move to the standby commercial one in no time and in a legal way as well. And in this case you can use the trial license for 14 days ( which is long enough) to finish maintenance of original PC or if you can move the license from original PC to stadby one. And the worst case, if the license lost due to HD crash, you can contact Siemens and get another license if you have the hardcopy license. Last year, one of my client lost his license, and I could recieve the license after 5 days. He was still working with the trial license.

I agree with you as i only back up the hard drives with out the license just for a fast fix and then run on the trail until i can contact siemens fo ra new licence

Choice is for most people just personal. I prefer Acronis. PS: isn't it so that developping and sales of Ghost has ended recently.
