BPDU disappearance problem of X208

931221 Posts: 27 Rating: (0)	Hello BPDU that a upper network had transmitted lost in the Ring network. Trouble was not found in a physical layer of Ring. BPDU had disappeared in Ring. Aupper network of Ring is Cisco. Cisco transmits BPDU to Ring and is confirming the state of Ring. Because a certain X208 blocked BPDU, Cisco cannot receive BPDU. Why did X208 block BPDU?

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, I guess you have the version 1.6.9 of the Firmware of the SCALANCE X 208. As I know now this might be an issue there. As I knownow hasthe latest version 1.7.6 as well as the earlier versions not such problems. So please update the FW of the used SCALANCE X units to one of these versions. Best regards J_Bell

The cause is, as far as I know, that the used MAC Address for the BPDU Multicast is blocked in this FW. That's it. Best regards J_Bell

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello Late, I am sorry, but I think this is one of the undocumented "Features" of the "old" Firmware. Therefore they did not mention this with the new one. Before the "old" FW it worked as it does with the brand new one but... as said this single one did not work. Best regards J_Bell P.S.: By the way this "Feature" depends on the used Multicast address... not on the Company that is the manufacturer of the sending unit.
