Brake doesn't open when turn on motor on Starter

chicken Posts: 96 Rating: (1)	Dear all, I have S120 servo with configuration: PM340 (size FSB) + CU310DP + servo motor 1FT7 + Braking Registor. I have connected power modul and braking resistor as following: Wire B+ of Registor connect to R1 of PM340. Wire B- of Registor connect to R2 of PM340. 2 wire black and white of the power cable of motor connect to 2 terminal T1 and T2 on braking resistor. I have chosen Motor with holding brake acc in sequence. At first, I config parameter p1278 = 0: Brake control with diagnostic evaluation, when I turn on motor on Starter control panel, motor isn't run and has fault F07930 [10]: Brake control Error. After that, I change paramter p1278 =1: Brake control without diagnostic evaluation and start again, I see that fans on PM340 run but motor doesn't run, after few second ( I think that time is config in parameter p2177 = 3s) fans of PM340 stop and has fault F7900: Motor locked.... , and switch on inhibited. I don't connect any BICO in function Brake Control in Starter. I don't know is there any problem in connection of braking resistor or something wrong in setting parameter? Please help me solve that. sandeep reddy Posts: 92 Rating: (7)	HI, You cannot connect the brake wires of motor to the braking resistor, please find the attached details of breaking resistor. also find other attachment which may help you in wiring. you require an option modue on PM340 for connecting the motor brake. thnks Attachment braking resistor.zip (492 Downloads)

chicken Posts: 96 Rating: (1)	Thank you all for your replies. I have motor servo 1FT7082-1AF71-1DH1 with internal holding brake. Is it necessary has a brake module? So What is purpose of 2 terminal T1 and T2 of braking registor? I can't find any document say about that Regards.

sandeep reddy Posts: 92 Rating: (7)	hi, its not necessary to have a brake module. your brake can also be controlled externally using one of your digital output. you can switch on/off according to your requirment. but remember to change the following parameter p1215 =0, other wise you will get an error " brake control error". Braking Resistor is used for Regenration purpose only, this takes the energy from the motor during power faliure back into the line supply.

chicken Posts: 96 Rating: (1)	Hi sandeep reddy, Why need to change p1215 to 0? If p1215=0 <=> No motor holding brake is use, but I have an internal motor holding brake. I think choose p1215 =1 <=> Motor holding brake acc to sequence control, so when I start motor, holding brake is open automatically. Is that right? I just want when I send Start signal ( OFF1 -> 1), motor will turn, no need to send command to control holding brake. Is it possible? And is it correct if I connect cables as I said above? @IBN-Service: Thank you very much for your advises. I'll remember them.

sandeep reddy Posts: 92 Rating: (7)	if p1215 = 1, then the brake has to be controlled by the Drive directly. if p1215 =0 , then the brake can be controlled externally as per our request. here we dont have a brake module so we can control the brake externally. so p1215=0
