Can I use SFC with Step-7

MITISH Posts: 11 Rating: (0)	Hii, I've been using Step-7 and have been programing in Ladder and scl . Now I want to use SFC for certain sequences as I find it very easy and useful. I want to know if I can use SFC and trigger it by ladder. If YES then can I get SFC as an add on licensed software .

executer01 Posts: 23 Rating: (0)	As my advise to use Hi-Graph with Step7 for sequence programming. It is also wery useful and not so hard as SFC. SFC is very god for PCS7 - it generates user interface for WinCC automatically during compilation. But this is not necessary for Step7.

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 11/7/2024 Posts: 3026 Rating: (1057)	Hello MITISH I presume by "SFC" for Step 7 you do actually mean S7 Graph (SFC is strictly speaking part of PCS7 and a bit more powerful than it's "poor cousin" S7 Graph) As for your questions: MITISH I want to know if I can use SFC and trigger it by ladder. absolutely, your S7 Graph sequence simply compiles into an FB which you call from your user program. MITISH If YES then can I get SFC as an add onlicensed software. You sure can, part number for current version of S7 Graph V5.3 is: 6ES7 811-0CC06-0YA5 Last but not least, if you want to program Sequencers graphically in Step 7then S7 Graph is the way to do so in my humble opinion. There's is of course nothing "wrong" with S7 HiGraph and you could (ab)use it to program Sequencers. S7 HiGraph is however a graphical State Machine programming enviroment and as such lacks things such as simultaneous branches and not the right tool (in my humble opinion) to implementsequencers. Note too that S7 Graph is part of Step 7 Professional and as such more likely to be used (and known) by people (S7 HiGraph mustalways be bought seperately and I have yet to find a customer who actually has or uses it). Instead I should use Step 7 Professional with S7 graphs . I am using step-7 V5.4 + SP3 and we use this in most of our projects and I do not have S7- Graph with it. I want to know if I can buy S7- graph as an add on software or I have to neccasarily buy S7 professional. Kindly suggest me what would be a better option?
