As in the topic I am wondering if one can connect a SIPLUS DI module (6AG521-1BH00-7AB0) to a standard S7-1500 CPU (CPU 1517-3 PN/DP - 6ES7 517-3AP00-0AB0). Hardware wise the back connection is the same. However when I try to add the SIPLUS module in TIA Portal v16 HW config, it is just simply not allowing me to do so.

I tried to look online but I couldn't find any information about it...

I will be grateful for any help

Hello Michal;

Do you have any error message or status display when you try to setup your Siplus DI module? If so, can you show us a screenshot?

S7-1500 configures Siplus modules slightly differently than other families of S7 CPUs. Since your CPU is not a Siplus model, maybe it will not accept a Siplus part number on its rack and you should try to insert the corresponding standard module part number (6ES7521-1BH00-0AB0) instead of the Siplus part number of your module. Both models have the same functionnality, the difference berween the two is the protection againt harsh environments supplied by the Siplus Extreme design. See the screenshot below.

Hello Daniel,

I am not getting any error, I just simply can't put the module on the normal CPU rack in the HW config. Unfortunately I cannot show you any screenshots cause it is not visible on them, when I drag the module and try to place it on the rack instead of my mouse icon I have a crossed circle - like "no parking" sign.

I was planning to proceed as you mentioned - inserting the normal module 0AB0 instead of SIPLUS one. I will do so and after I connect the PLC I will see if it works correctly or not.

Hi CPUSurfer,

in the hw-config it is not possible to mix up siplus components with standard compontes.

If you want to configure a siplus product, also the cpu has to be a siplus.

As Daniel Chartier already mentioned, you can use also the standard product number for a siplus product, it should work if you use the product number of the standard component in the hw config, the siplus component is based of.

How do you configure a SIPLUS extreme component with the TIA Portal?
