CB is not updating on PCS7

Chandra Tiwari Posts: 247 Rating: (2)	Hello Mike J, I am using Schneider Relay P143 on IEC 61850 with SIEMENS PCS7 software. I am generating tags using DBA tool. But the status of CB is not updating on PCS7. I am getting upodated values on IEC browser Triangle Micro Works (TMW). please help.. Apart of this i am getting all the values.

Chandra Tiwari Posts: 247 Rating: (2)	hi, yes i am pooling the data from device. But i am not getting Circuit Breaker status on PCS7. I called to relay vendor they are saying i need to create data sets and report control block. are you have any idea about it.

We are carrying out IEC 61850 communication with Areva relays through PCS 7 (using the WinCC Channel for IEC 61850). But there is some communication problem in that. Please share if you were able to solve the problem.

We used IEC 61850 driver with license, also for protection relays on IEC 61850 we used Power control DBA tool for IEC face plates and database automization. Can you explain what communication error you are getting from Areva relay, In my case we were used Areva/Schneider Micom Relays P143. Regards, RaviS

Ankit Experienced Member Joined: 2/18/2010 Last visit: 12/11/2024 Posts: 24 Rating: (1)	Dear Ravi, We are using a WinCC Channel for IEC 61850 communication. The devices are Micom Relays. We are able to ping the Relays. However, when the request is sent from WinCC, there is no data from the Relays. We tried with another tool called the IEC browser, on the same computer. IEC browser is able to eaily pull data fro the Relays. On testing with Wieshark (a third-party network monitor), we saw that the packet from WinCC was being received by the Relays, however the relays acknowledge the packet saying that it was a mal-formed packet. Now there are not too many settings in the WinCC channel that we can alter. The communication is of course not happening. Just wanted to find out if we were making some very obvious mistake, since this is the first time we will be using this channel to communicate on IEC 61850. Thanks!

If you have Micom relay from Schneider or Areva or Alstom you have to configure data sets and report control blocks first it decides what data and in which format you are going to send. One more thing please tell is it purely WINCC or its PCS7. because in PCS7 its very easy to take tha data from IEC 61850 by using IEC chennels and blocks. First you communicate your Relay from Micom S1 Studio software available free from Schneider download latest softwares i think V3.5.2 i sthe latest one and update data modules of that software then communicate it. After successfull communication take the ICD file from the device which contains the address like IP address SNTP address and device node name which is very necessary for communication with WINCC. Now if you have Power Control DBA tool (works with PCS7) Import this icd file in dba tool, add logican nodes like what values you want in WINCC then compile it, it will create TCC channel (communication protocol) in wincc and all tags will create automatically. After compilation it will create block icons as well. Sorry for bigger msg. Please feel free to ask if you have doubt, I dont it with PCS7 thats why i have only that much info. I am also new bie on IEC 61850 :) Regards, RaviS
