Choosing a S7 1500 CPU

Hi everyone,

I'm working on a project for control and datalogging different process. And i have to choose a model of 1500 cpu. Looking into the hardware catalog on TIA Portal V16, there are a few models to select.

The main characteristic in this project is that the cpu will be placed on a board alone whit a ethernet switch. And we will use profinet IO modules like ET200 and IO Link masters.

So, there is any specific feature to look at for choosing between diferets versions of S7 1500?

Also for datalogging it must to be able to connect to a sql server.

Without any more specific information (such as the number of connected IO Devices on Profinet, the make and model of the IO lLink masters on Profinet...) al i can tell you is this:

-all s7-1500 CPUs come with (at least one) Profinet interface, so they will easily connect to a number of IO devices on your network. The S7-1511C-1PN Cpu, the smallest yu can use, can handle up to 32 IO devices over Profinet (or Profibus with a Profibus CM), see the screenshot below, form the S7-1511C-1PN technical data.

- connecting to an SQL database with your S7-1500 CPU is not diffiult, uing T-functions over Profinet, as shpwn in the following Application Example:

 Hi Daniel,

I cant tell you right now the numbers of IO Link masters or Profinet IO modules. But if this help, i will be no more than 25 modules. And until now we use IFM AL1102 IO Link masters.

I amended my earlier post, and included an additianal screenshot, you should find the answer more complete.

I have also added a small vdeo showing how to connect an IFM AL1100 IO link master to a S7-200, the procedure hould be similar for your hardware selection.
