ashvir Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hi all I have a S7 -3125 2PN/DP PLC and I want to communicate with a PC using hyperterminal, for example I want to send out a word such as 'Hello' and be able to view this on hyperterminal and vice versa. How do I do this

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, for the PN interface of the S7-PLC you need to use the so called T-Functions. They are part of the S7-Sandard Library. To help you to use the functionality SIEMENS offers a tool to configure the needed parameters for the TCP Connection. To get this check this link: Generating the Connection Data for the open TCP/IP Communication using the Open Communication Wizard This application also includes Links to other FAQ’s explaining the programming with T-Functions in all possible variations. dchartier Grandmaster-Expert Joined: 9/27/2006 Last visit: 11/18/2024 Posts: 12296 Rating: (2691)	Hello ashvir; I see three options for your to talk to Hyperterminal over a serial line with your CPU: 1) a CP 340 or CP 341 serial communictaion processor for the PLC, and a null-modem cable. The following manual (First Steps with the CP 341) discusses a sample program installed with the CP 341 software that is designed to be tested with Hyperterminal: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1188622 2) a DP-RS 232C link ,odule to use the Profibus-DP port on your CPU and connect it to the serial port of the PC.The follwing FAQ discusses the transmission of data with a Windows PC: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1188622 3) using the Profinet port of your PLC you could establish a TCP/IP connectiontoHyperterminal. However I must admit I have not done this myself, and I would be very happy to see if someone else here has done anything of the kind. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Daniel, yes, I think your whishes work very well. I think the most important thing to take care about is the way to establish the connection. If the PLC set to be passive the PC may easily establish the connection to a port between 2000 and 5000. In the upcoming version of STEP7 these borders will be removed too. ashvir Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hi all Thanks for the help thus far, I am gettign a physical PLC on Monday so for now I am downloading to PLC SIM. I am using the step7 example that was found in the link that J_Bell provided. Now looking at FC 97 in FB 300 I have '1' in 'connected' and 'active'. In FB63 which is in FB300 I have '1' in 'connected' and 'send request' and '0' in 'send done,'send busy' and 'send error'. Since I am using PLC sim where is the PN port of the S7 315 connected to. Also when I do use a physical PLC which Port number is the 'local port' and 'remote port' in FC 97 or where do I find this.

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear ashvir, I am sorry, but T-Connections do not work with PLCSIM at all. PLCSIM only support logical interconnections to check the processing of the program but not interconnections with other PLC’s. The only way would be to access the PLC by the use of an OPC Server with S7-Protocol. I would recommend waiting until Monday to get it to work. Best regards J_Bell

My PLC TCP/IP is 192.168.0.1 and looking under properties and address in the hardware configthe address2046, so i made the local port address in FC 97 to 2046, I dont know what to put for the remote address. My PC address is 192.168.0.205. Using the example I still dont have comms with hyperterminal. Please assist

ashvir Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Sorry J_Bell I got error 8086 because the local connection id was set to zero. This is now set to '1' which resulted in an error of '7000'
