Compare String in C-scprit

rovist Regular Member Joined: 6/4/2006 Last visit: 8/22/2024 Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	Hi, Can anyone help me for compare tags (type string) in C-Script example : I haves string with value ABCDE, can I compare character number 4 is a character 'D' or not here's my script char text[10]; int status; strcpy(text,"ABCDE"); if (char[4] == 'D') status = 1; else status = 0; does any wrong in my script ?? And one more, can oneyone give manual or description about function string in c-script, like strncpy, strlen, etc. cause in help not explaination yet.

First of all, on the "if" line I believe you should compare the variable you created, which is "text", of the type char. so it would be "text[4] ==...", right? And... there is the "strcmp" function, if what you wish is to compare 2 strings. That function subtracts one string from the other, so if the result if 0 they're equal. Best regards, Danielle

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	If the intention is to find out wether the string is "ABCDE": if (strcmp (Tag, "ABCDE")==0) As I said, strcmp subtracts "ABCDE" from the tag, so if the result is 0 they're equal! [:P]

In this case I copied that part from a function, so that "Tag" is a type char tag which was defined upon the action definition: void Function(char* Tag) so in this case you wouldn't need "GetTagChar", and "Tag" is a parameter which is passed on when you call the function. However if you're accessing the tagdirectly you'll have to use "GetTagChar"!
