Component hardware changes/additions while a S7 400 system is running

Sorry I guess you were advised correctly. You cannot make modifications to your hardware while running. You have to riska complete restart. Only thing you can do online is to replace an existing card incase you are working with ET200S or ET200M with an Active bus Module.

Dear all, I have been told that I can't make hardware changes and/or additions while a S7-400 system is running. My topology includes several S7 400 systems connected in a Profinet network. Some of those S7 400 systems present extensions, some others presents S7 300 sub systems and some others presents ET 200 sub systems (I am talking about a plant with 16 Control Nodes). So I would like to be able to add to the existing nodes, new subsystems including Simocodes (to automate MCC's) while the node and therefore the process controlled by this S7 400 systems keep running. Can anyone tell me which are my limitations on doing this? links to technical information will be also very helpful!!
