Configuration of an alarm line in a Comfort Panel using WinCC TIA v14

Hi,

I would appreciate some advice on the configuration of an alarm line in a Comfort Panel using WinCC TIA v14. I have configured all my messages, some error with acknowledge and some warning with no acknowledge and would like to display the current alarm at the top of the HMI.

I have been able to do this with an Alarm Line, however I have one small issue. I need to display the company logo on the top left of the screen and the time/date on the top right. I would like to fill the screen in between with the alarm, however I can find no way to adjust the width of an alarm line. Also if I set the order of alarm line to "send to back" and logo to "bring to front" this has no effect.

If I configure an alarm window and resize so only the top line can be seen I can fit this into the gap and make the text large but in this case the top alarm is highlighted so does not display in the default colours unless I click away from it to deselect. 

I have spent quite a bit of time on this very simple issue so any help would be appreciated!

 Alarm window has the highest visibility priority. You have the Alarm windows in Global screen, but what kind of parameters have you defined in the Properties?

Many thanks for your reply. I have tried changing the parameters for the instance of my alarm line and also changed the parameters from the global screens side. In both cases I still have the same issue, as soon as I change from "advanced" alarm display to "alarm line" all settings for width etc are greyed out. This makes sense I suppose as the alarm line is full width, however then I can find no way to place the company logo beside or on top of the alarm.

My other option is to use the "advanced" type which is sizeable and can be adjusted to fit between the logos. The different issue appears here where the top alarm is always in highlighted state so this masks the colour coding of red for error, yellow for warning etc. If the highlight colour could be set to transparent for example this would be a workaround but I have neither found a way of doing this.

Thanks for your fast response. I suspected this from my own testing but at least now I know to spend no more time looking. I'll look at adjusting my layout to suit the full alarm line.

Just create the Alarm Line for a template on a smaller HMI (7"), then copy and paste the template onto a larger screen (12"). The height and width remain the same as on the 7" screen so that Logos or the time & date can be positioned either side.

- define an internal wstring HMI tag ("text" in here)

- in alarm view properties / alarm line -> set this tag, so the actual line will be copied to this tag

- display this tag with an IOfield in your desired stye!

Some useful information to this method, the alarm line needs to always be visible/active on the active screen to update the tag.

I did not want my alarm line visible since it takes up the whole screen/doesnt fit with my menu design. So what worked for me was to add the alarm line into my menu template which is on all my active screens and putting a visibilty animation to it with a "placeholder" hmi internal tag to hide it.

This worked and it always writes to my alarm text string tag now.
