Connect PC to I/O Distributor via Profibus

Dhiyia Posts: 56 Rating: (1)	Hello Experts, My system has (hard ware configuration) 1. 1- PLC 314C-2DP 2. 2- I/O Distributor ET 200S ---- 3 modules 3. 3- Profibus connectors with PG interface … Can I connect my PC to ET 200S module (via Profibus port) by using PC Adapter USB ( # 6ES7 972-0CB20-0XA0 ) in order to download program to CPU, program monitor…. Etc. I have tried but I can’t get any connection … Thanks in advance ….

Etc. I have tried but I can’t get any connection … Thanks in advance …. Hello, Yes you can do it. Please check your cable connection in profibus connectors. If you have only two node in your profibus network, you must connect both of profibus wire (cable - Green and Red) to A1,B1 in both side. Also, you can turn off terminator switch on both connector for test! Regards, MRG

Dhiyia Posts: 56 Rating: (1)	Hi I have / 3 / nodes in my system & it is working properly … The distance between the PLC & last node is 150 m … so I would like to connector my PC to last node ( ET 200S ) via Profibus port for download & monitor the program from last node …. As soon as I connect the my PC to ET 200S port via Profibus connector with PG inter face there is no any LED light on in the PC Adaptor USB ….??? Do you have any idea what is the problem ….???? Thanks

Thanks Hello again, Please check following items one by one: 1. Check cable connection in last node (see attachment) 2. Are you sure about your PC Adapter? For testing: Connect it directly to CPU. 3. Are you sure about setting in Set PC/PG Interface? Check in both mode (PC Adapter-AUTO and PC Adapter-Profibus) 4. Check profibus connector with PG socket in last node. 5. Thanks As it may have passive port, you cannot connect your adapter their, As Adapter will not power up from passive port. .

Thanks As it may have passive port, you cannot connect your adapter their, As Adapter will not power up from passive port. . We note that Profibus is carried on a pair of parallel wires (RS485 Physical layer) and150m is not a big distance to voltage drop. Also, it's possible because I've done it many times. Regards, MRG
