Connection of IOT2000 to the internet

ainul1 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hi, I need help regarding the connection of IOT2000 to the internet. Ive already connected my X2 port to the router and X1 port to my pc for putty. I cant access to the internet to install node-red to the iot2000. I have followed several guidelines from the forum but I still got ping: bad address 'google.com' when I tried to ping google. ainul1 Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have gained an ip address for my X2 port. Now the problem is that I cannot ping the gateway ip nor can I ping google. Do u have a solution to establish a connection between IOT2000 and the internet? I am very sorry for I am very new to the IOT2000 and theres no detailed guidelines for establishing connection between IOT2000 and the internet. Please help. bergmanu Platinum Member Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 9/9/2024 Posts: 3345 Rating: (379)	Hi, usually setting the interface to dhcp and connect it to a dhcp router (connected to the internet) is managing everything for you. Now you set a static IP address. I guess your routers IP address is 192.168.0.1? Should be possible to ping it, if the port is physically connected. I'd remove the line "network 192.168.0.0". Did you restart the IOT after changing the /etc/network/interfaces file? Because simply changing the file does not update the interfaces, this only happens when the interfaces or the whole IOT is restarted. Using a static IP requires some more to dos for the nameserver: You need to remove the link of /etc/resolv.conf, re-create the file and enter your routers IP address and Googles DNS and make the file immutable afterwards. MarcRyo99 Joined: 9/11/2022 Last visit: 9/9/2024 Posts: 1 Rating: (0)	i set my IP address not in the PUTTy but in WINSCP, search file /etc/network/interfaces and set my IP like this: # /etc/network/interfaces -- configuration file for ifup(8), ifdown(8) # The loopback interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.137.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.137.1 dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 auto eth1 iface eth1 inet static address 192.168.137.20 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.137.1 dns-nameservers 8.8.8.8 and then reboot the IOT, when powered on again open PUTTy, type "unlink /etc/resolv.conf" (without "). then go to /etc/ in WINSCP, create new file called "resolv.conf", open it and write: search www.google.com nameserver 8.8.8.8 nameserver 192.168.137.1 nameserver 8.8.4.4 in the line 3, write your gateway address. save it and then close it. open PUTTy again, type "chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf" to made resolve.conf immutable, then reboot PUTTy. and check ping google. also, if you cannot install pallete in node-red, try install it in PUTTy.
