Could we use USB Serial Coverter in Step5 V7.xx

ntban Posts: 58 Rating: (0)	Hi Everybody, Have anyone can tell me: Should we can use the USB-Serial Converter cable ( because my Laptop have no COM port) to go Online with PLC S5in Step5 V7.xx ?! When I used the Step5 V6.6 , that is OK, But when I use the Step5 V7.xx , it's not OK ?! ( Itry alot ) What's my problems ? Thanks, Ban P/s! The USB-Serial Converter cable was manufacture by FTDI

Now can you give more details about OS and exactly version of Step5 which you tried? And what kind of message you received in Step5 in your аttemptс to connect? regards

Thijs Posts: 121 Rating: (16)	I've experianced the same. I'm now using a USB <-> S5 cable. Take a look at http://www.ibhsoftec-sps.de/german/Produktauswahl_Hardware_S5.htm . It's not perfect, but it works

(the usb com port com numberi is not importent) Regards Zenta P.S.: When I looking for the solution for this problem, I find a driver in www.cdelectronic.de They have a USB TTY adapter also... if you think you can check it...

Hi UMENCHO,

Yes I using a unique PC (Laptop IBM T43) and I think all hardware is OK becauseif I use Step5 V6.6 to connect to PLC S5 it's OK ( Pls, see the attached files).

The Step5 I try to connecthave version is 7.23 and service pack 1

Thijs Posts: 121 Rating: (16)	I've had the same problem. I could use my USB->RS232 for anything exept S5. Some point we gave up and orderd the USB->TTY cable. This cable works great and now I can use S5 and use a USB-RS232 for other devices without replugging all the time. To me this is a extra benifit

Becouse usb / tty cable is: usb/rs232 rs232/tty adapter (2in1)..... so if you find the driver to usb/tty cable you can use usb/rs232 adapter...................... regards
