Counter value

Hello,

I am new to using counters.

I want to do a count upwith an input pulse, When the pulse stopped, I want the counter value to be checked against a predefined set of numbers then held in a holding place. Next, I will do a count down of this number when the pulse is activated in the opposite direction.

How to solve the problem (not what is the solution):

• Read the onlline manual for different types of counters (Down/up/ up and down counter).It is not difficult to find information.Just select the counter instruction and press F1.
• Define inputs to up and down inputs.
• Define an input for reset
• When up signal stop for long time (On-delay timer and check the counter value<>0), copy the content of counter(use edge to be sure it happens once only).
• Start down counting and it will work.Also reset counter when it may become negative (only possibility)

It is not difficult to implement all

It is actually 2 pulses I am getting. When pulse1 activate first (direction west) and when pulse2 activate first it is East direction. I got this part working.

I can program 2(or more)counters (separate networks) to check the pulses (East). I know when the pulse will stop. I then compare the value of the counters against a number. whichever one is true, I output that. Example:The pulse count can be2, 4, 6 etc. I setup comparator for 2, 4, 6(separate networks) Now, if my C0 count is 4, I compare this to the 3 networks of comparators. Since 4 is matching one, that output will be ON( and I can tell its 4 pulses). I then reset all counters. I want to store this number - 4 - so I can do a S_CD later.
