Badgeke Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello, I'm trying to make a FTP-connection with a CP343 Advanced module as a FTP client. I'm using a PC as FTP-server. The PLC is equipped with a CP315-2DP and a CP343-1 Advanced module (313-1GX21-0XE0) I have made a cyclic FTP-program which runs in OB35. It should store and receive data from the PC (which is configured as a standard FTP server) to the PLC using a FTP-connection (TCP-IP). When the program tries to connect with the FTP-server (PC), the FC40 (FTP-CONNECT) block gives an error, numbered 8183. In the Siemens Manual, this error is described as "The configuration does not match the job parameters". I have checked all parameters (ID, Login, IP-address of the server, ...) but I can't seem to find the problem. Can somebody give me some advice what to do? Thanks in advance. Greets, Badgeke

Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hi, I would not use the OB 35 for this job. Have you tried it within the PLC Program yet? Have you set the AG_SEND / AG_RECEIVE in your PLC Program? What Parameters have you placed on the FTP Functions and in the Connection configuration? Please post some more informations. Stay Calm....

Badgeke Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	FC40 is a standard FTP-block in Step7. This FC opens the FTP-connection with a FTP-server. In order to use this block FC40, the manual says you need to add block FC5 to your project (AG_SEND). So we did add FC5 to our project. According to the manual, you don't have to use or assign FC5 in another function. (Is this correct?) These are our parameters for the FTP-CONNECT block FC40: ACT: M1.0 (will be set when the connection is required, works fine) ID: The ID of the FTP-connection set in NetPro LADDR: Module address also from NetPro LOGIN: Login-data from DB40 (IP-address of the FTP-server, username, password) BUFFER_DB_NR: Number of a buffer-DB which is 256 bytes The output of this FTP-CONNECT block FC40 is: DONE: false ERROR: true STATUS: 8183 (="configuration does not match job parameters") The FTP-server is a standard FTP-server. We use the program Serve-U to run a FTP-service on a standard PC in the network. Both PLC and PC have static IP-addresses. greets

Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hello, you are right, you do not have to configure the FC 5 it only hast to be in the PLC because the FTP Block wants to use the FC. About the point you said could you post how you configured the two DBs you have? I think Screenshots would be very helpful. Stay calm.

I made screenshots of the program itself and the DB's. I haven't written this program myself, but I adapted it. It's based upon an example I found on the web. Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hello, I have checked your Screenshots and I saw 2 faults which might be responsible for the behaviour. First of all a LADDR of w#16#7B8 is impossible. There must be another ID, please check your HW Config. Secondly, maybe not that bad, the Exist bit must be true if you want to store Data onto the FTP Server, a false shows that this does not exist and is therefore not allowed. I hope this could help you already a bit. For further analysis I would contact Customer Support. Stay calm.

Badgeke Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello, thanks for looking to our posts so quickly. The LADDR was fault indeed. After changing it into a valid ID ( W#16#0100 ), we still got the error "STATUS: 8183". We also tried changing the EXISTS bit, but when we did, we got a new type of error: STATUS: 8F6A ("No new socket could be opened, temporary resource problem, repeat the block call"). I think you can't manually force this EXISTS bit to 1, because if you do, you skip some steps in the program. (I think) We also contacted Consumer Support, but they haven't responded yet (over a week now :-s ) Greets, Badgeke

Calm_down Posts: 324 Rating: (30)	Hello, well, this is very sad, maybe you invest the time to call once again with the SR ID you got from the Customer Support. About the 8183 you see, if you check the Status Informations for the FC 40 (FTP_CONNECT) you see that the Function is still not satisfied.... I think the best solution would be to see how your project looks like, could you send me a reduced Project containing just the FTP Communication? Stay calm.

Badgeke Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello again, We (=my colleague) have contacted Consumer Support 5 times in the last week without a proper response. Today, we finally spoke a technician of Consumer Support who could help us. Apparently, the FC40 (FTP_CONNECT) is very strict in its input parameters. The login input parameters are defined in DB40, but they MUST be at following positions: 0.0 ip_address 102.0 username 136.0 password 170.0 filename In our DB, these parameters had other positions. We referred to the correct positions in the DB when we programmed FC40, but that isn't enough. The parameters really have to be on those positions in the DB. Now FTP_CONNECT and FTP_RETRIEVE are working fine, but the FTP_QUIT function gives an error: STATUS: 8F24 "Area error reading a parameter." We are searching for a solution, but suggestions are always welcome
