Hi, Well what nishant_sinha is saying is true, We tried using CP340 once and it is only used for ASCII communication, small devices etc. CP341 is used for RS485 for PLC-PLC or other communication means. See the Serial Interface is supported by CP340 and Modbus interface by 340 it is supported only by cp341. There was a post in the forum as same. Check it out Link1 It is always better to go with CP341 for any application. Though the cost is little more, U will not have headache in the project. |

Well no one really answered my question regarding why CP341 is permitted in S7-300R and not CP 340 ? As far as Modbus using CP 340 is concerned ... we have been using it for more than 12 years now ( Of course we have written our own Modbus Drivers for CP 340 ) without any problem. Well the cost of CP341 is not a little more, if you add the cost of CP341 + Modbus Dongle it comes to apprx 4 times that of a CP340 with our own Modbus Driver. Thanks everyone for their ideas Cheers Navnag |
