Hello nic_c, Basically if you prepare hardware configuration to be the same like with old CPU, I think you don't have a problem. But , depends from your program, some blocks has other (different) behavio. Look at S7-300 CPU 31xC and CPU 31x: Specifications (Appendix A)Hope this will helps.Best regards, Hristo Mihalev |

Hello nic; Just as a confirmation of Umencho's post, you could look at the following FAQ discussing the migration of variousS7-300 CPUs: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/21503828 Point 3 confirms the 312C as a possible replacement for the 312IFM. They also suggest you look at the Technological Functions mof the IFM CPU, and compare the with the counting and positionning functions available in the 312C.
