CPU change error

Mislec Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hi, I made a firmware upgrade of my CPU 1212, because I wan't to use the datalog feature. After the firmware upgrade I also upgraded the software in the TIA portal to version 11. The problem which I have is that after I change the CPU device in the project to the firmware version 2.0 I got the following error after the hardware compile: Home automation,,1,0,10:05:21 PM Hardware configuration,,1,0,10:05:21 PM SIMATIC 1200 station_2, ,1,0,10:05:22 PM S7-1200 rack, ,1,0,10:05:22 PM Home automation, ,1,0,10:05:22 PM PROFINET interface, ,1,0,10:05:22 PM ,PROFINET interface contains too few modules of the type S71200\SUBMODULES\CPU\IE\MDD_Simatic-CPU12xx-Sub-EthernetPort_2.0.,1,0,10:05:22 PM ,Compiling aborted (errors: 1; warnings: 0),1,0,10:05:22 PM Do you have any idea how to solve this ? Late Platinum Member Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 11/17/2023 Posts: 2705 Rating: (318)	Hi, What have you done with the CPU, is that alreadychanged to the new one? You could try to load with STEP7 V10.5 BASIC the 1200 CPU and then upload the CPU in the new project under STEP7 BASIC/PROFESSIONAL V11.

Mislec Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	First I made the firmware upgrade of the CPU. Then I imported the project form TIA 10.5 to TIA 11. After that I made the change device in the TIA project, because the CPU has now firmware version 2.0 and I want to use the new options. And after the CPU change (in the TIA project) i'm getting the error message after the hardware compile. Best regards, Kristijan

bakerjw Posts: 126 Rating: (18)	Using the TIA Portal, reset the PLC back to factory defaults, power cycle the PLC and try it again. Sometimes the PLCs need to be cleared after a firmware update.

If the problem doesn't occur. It should be faster build a new device configuration and after then copy the blocks, HMI, etc.

Stop searching the problem in FW. Are there some issues with knowhow-protection? If yes: remove PW-protection in your v10.5 project --> compile (rebuild all) --> save --> close --> THEN convert with V11.

This is a bug in the update device option in V11 when upgrading the PLC Firmware from 1.0 to 2.0. It does not include all the necessary Profinet options resulting from the 'upgrade' of the FW. Add new block, copy all configuration over, copy all blocks over, copy all tags, DBs, etc. What a painful process for something so simple, so natural. :(
