Hi, I did use dd and it is working fine... But... The image file is too large. And it is also limited to the exact same type of drive used. 32Gb Scandisk uSD != 32Gb Samsung uSD. I spent quite a while trying to figure how to do it with quite list of failures. 1- resize2fs just doesn't work.Magic number error. 2- qemu damages the img file. 3- Gparted doesn't do imaging, just cloning. The problem comes from the fact that just trimming the img file will not work, because it also trims actual files in the process. What I am looking for is exactly what was done to create the example img file. Does anyone has advice? Thank you. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

Hi, this is the problem with these kind of images. Theay are the exact same size as the drive you backuped and not all SD cards have exactly the same size (bits). That's why it may fail to restore the image to another card. I haven't tried but there is a turorial how to only backup the used parts of the image. The example image is being build with a script from sources, so it is only about 2GB. The first boot resizes the partition that the whole drive can be used. Best regards! |
